A long spring is nutritious for the soul

Wow this post is long overdue, I logged in everyday to see that ‘fall is a great time..’ and thought hmm, I should get to that soon…  We have had a busy spring in moving to a new location in central Georgetown as well as some big news!  I am seeking an assistant to train in all the wonderful services at Kimeez, in order for me to prepare for welcoming my first child into the world in October.  See the posting in the job posting section if you are interested.

We are having a beautifully long, but strange spring; a perfect year to have your first herb garden catered to whatever space you have available.  A few simple basil, rosemary and parsley plants will grow and supply you with fresh herbs all summer.. saving you money and blandness in your meals.  You will notice the difference!  Mother nature is the best aestitician- grow a small garden or have a potted garden of herbs to create your own oils and lotions for your beauty needs. Consults start now and gardens will be planted in June.

We would also love to take your dog out for a trip to the dog park or a nature walk, it is a ‘happy’ deposit in your dog’s life and will benefit their behavior and health.  Call us to today to discuss your best friend.

Remember that spring is a natural time to cleanse internally with the foods and herbs available.  Pick some dandelion leaves from a pesticide free area and add them to your salad for a cleansing action to your digestive system and liver.  Once asparagus is fresh from Ontario, serve it with dinner as many days as possible as long as it is fresh to clean out your urinary system and kidneys.. the stink of your urine is a good thing!! Most of all, get out into the spring air.  Take your family or yourself for a walk in the woods, or even around your local side streets and parks.  The air quality is the best of the year.

Fall is a great time to re-organize and re-fresh

The air is cooler and cleaner, and you are yearning for all the messiness of summer to be in order.  The melancholic hymns of the windy trees draw our attention to the days getting shorter, and summer’s end.  Its true, fall can have a subtle sadness to it, but there is also excitement about a new year of studies, or  simply returning to order in your home and work life.

The quiet themes of receding change and the harvest of fall beckon us to turn inward for direction, and to then discover new ways to expand ourself through studies, movement or trying out new activities.  It feels good to re-organize our homes and sift through any of those piles of stuffs we have accumulated through the year, just in time to welcome the holiday season.  Enjoy the colours and fruits of change!

Fall Specials: September through November

  •  We are offering a flat rate for the re-organization of cupboards/closets/ storage areas!

When the heat is on, keep your dog at home

One thing that bothers me in the extreme heat of summer is not the heat itself, but seeing so many dogs travelling in cars.

Do they really need to come with you?

It is important to take that question seriously because dogs over-heat faster than we do, and are just not comfortable in the heat more than any other weather condition.

Dogs can only balance thier body temperature by drinking lots of water, and panting through thier mouth; they do not sweat.  The temperature rises rapidly in vehicles, even if the weather outside feels tolerable and decent.   The car is just all around a potentially dangerous place for your animals to be in the summer, and they should only be in them if they must.  If you must bring your pet with you, be sure to bring lots of water and keep them inside without A/C or flowing air for no more than a few minutes.  DO NOT ever leave them with closed windows.

Spring is here!… sort of..

Even though we have typical warm – cold weather, lady spring is showing us a glimpse… and you feel the itch to vacuum the car, clean out the closet or simply view your life a new.. considering new avenues to experience what it means to be you.

If you are a dog-walker, spring is a bitter sweet experience. You know that you are likely to have muddy, wet or stinky dogs in your car, as well as muddy boots that have mistakenly stepped in some old poo that someone believed would disappear in the snow.  Even so, its worth it to be outside in the warm spring sun (or rain) while the dogs go cooky with excitement from the spring smells and sights.

If you are a gardener, spring is also bittersweet: the romance of the snow melts away to reveal scattered garbage, old stocks and icky leaves all over your grass and beds.  So much clean up! So much to do!  One day its exciting, the next the work is overwhelming….  and that mostly depends on whether or not the sun is out.

The best part of spring is the excitement of ‘the new’ ; the fresh, vibrant voice of nature that initiates all cycles of life anew, and more than before. The wisdom of the season teaches us that this feeling is meant to be in us everyday, the feeling of limitless potentials and possibilites of what our homes can look like, what we can do, who we can be and how good we can feel…remember, whenever you are looking out, look in too.

Here’s what I feel good about, new services!!!!

Fine-Tuning at Kimeez …..

I am in the process of re-vamping and fine tuning the services at Kimeez Helping Hands following some inspiration from a cutting edge marketing philosophy: do the things that you truly enjoy doing.  It seems simple, and yet it is one of the most challenging things to whole-heartedly commit to in our business or working lives.  Sometimes we think we are doing what we love, after all, if you are going to have your own business, why wouldn’t it be exactly what we enjoy?  But then, if you are willing to take an honest look at yourself and what you are offering, it is only ‘sort of’ what you enjoy, and you do it in the way ‘so and so’ does it, because you couldn’t believe that you could have your business exactly the way you want in the way you want it!

It’s the perfect place to build from, as its win-win.  I get to do what I love, and share with others my true gratitude and high quality service.  My clients are more like friends who benefit from my unique offerings and feel valued as people, not just a thing who gets something they need and pays.  After all, we are all different and have unique gifts to share as clients, patrons, friends and family.
